PM Modi unveils ‘Made in Mysuru’ Adi Shankaracharya statue in Kedarnath
1 min readKedarnath: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled ‘Made in Mysuru’ Adi Shankaracharya statue at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.
Modi offered prayers at Shiva temple in Kedarnath and unveiled a 12 foot tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya adorning the samadhi of the revered saint.
The works on sculpting Shankaracharya’s statue started in 2019 in Mysuru and it weighs about 30-35 tonnes. It is carved from H D Kote’s Krishna shile (black stone) and the sculptor is Arun Yogiraj.
Prime minister personally reviewed the whole Kedarnath project after it was damaged in disaster by the floods of Alakananda River.
Now, the central government has developed Kedarnath as a best pilgrimage center in Himalayas.
Apart from the statue, PM inaugurated many infrastructure projects worth 130 crore at one of the popular shrines of the country.
