Probationary IPS Officer killed in road accident in Hassan
1 min readHassan: A young IPS probationer was killed in a road accident near Kittane village on Mysuru- Hassan road on Sunday.
Harsh Vardhan (Harsh Bardhan), aged 26 years, was a 2022-23 batch IPS Officer of Karnataka cadre. He was a native of Bihar, but the family had settled in Reva district in Madhya Pradesh. After completing his Engineering, Harsh Vardhan had cracked Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams.
After completing his training in Karnataka Police Academy (KPA), Mysuru, Harsh Vardhan had been deputed as DySP of Holenarasipura sub-division for the field training.
He was coming to Hassan from Mysuru, in a Police jeep to report to the SP, when the tyre of the jeep allegedly burst and hit a house on the roadside. Both Harsh Vardhan and Manjegowda, the jeep driver had suffered injuries and been rushed to the hospital.
Harsh Vardhan was put on ventilator support, but didn’t survive, it is said.
The jeep belonged to Hassan Rural Police Station Inspector. Manjegowda, the Hassan DAR Police Constable had been sent to Mysuru to bring the officer.
DIGP (Southern Range) Dr M B Boralingaiah visited the hospital.
ADGP (Training) Alok Kumar has tweeted the news of Harsh Vardhan’s death, expressing his regrets over losing a young and precious life, but road safety needs due attention at all levels.
