Punjab: Following the landslide victory of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab Assembly elections, the party’s CM candidate Bhagawant Mann on Thursday announced that the swearing-in ceremony will be held at slain freedom fighter Bhagat Singh’s native place Khatkar Kalan.
AAP has won most of the 91 seats it is leading in, followed by Congress’- 19, SAD-four, BJP- two and others one seat.
After the historical show of the party dislodging Congress government, Mann made two major announcements, marking the difference in governance by AAP government.
Mann said “swearing-in ceremony will not be held at Raj Bhavan. The ceremony will be shifted to freedom Fighter Shahid Bhagat Singh’s native place Khatkar Kalan”.
Khatkar Kalan is a village just outside Banga town in Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar district (recently named Nawanshahr earlier the part of Jalandhar district) in the Indian state of Punjab.
This place is famous for the memorial of Bhagat Singh.
Mann also announced to issue an order to keep the portraits of Bhagat Singh and the architect of Indian constitution Dr B R Ambedkar at all the government offices in Punjab.
