Senior journalist Umapathy awarded Baba Saheb Ambedkar Endowment award
1 min readMysuru: Senior journalist D Umapathy has been honoured with the prestigious Baba Saheb Ambedkar Endowment award by the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists for the year 2022-23.
Umapathy is currently working as Consulting Editor for ‘Nyayapatha’ (Gauri Media) and ‘E-Dina’ digital news firm.
Bagalkot’s senior journalist Subash Hodlur had constituted the Prestigious Baba Saheb Ambedkar Endowment award for those striving for the deprived community through their writings.
Born in Chitradurga on March 18, 1959, Umapathy moved to Mysuru for higher education. He is an alumnus of Maharaja College. He completed his post-graduation in Journalism from the University of Mysore.
Spanning 27 years in journalism, Umapathy had been associated with ‘Kannada Prabha’ and also worked as ‘ETV’ Delhi correspondent. As a Delhi Correspondent, his reportage on Parliament sessions, election analysis and Supreme Court cases, especially on water sharing disputes were noteworthy. He regularly wrote columns for ‘Prajavani’ and ‘Andolana’.
