2 min readBengaluru: With SSLC exam commencing from Thursday amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar has directed the officials to ensure safety of each and every student.
While interacting with various officials on the preparations for the SSLC exam, he said this is an unprecedented situation and the whole nation is watching the Karnataka government’s move. “This is challenging. But officials must ensure that they take all precautionary measures to ensure the safety of the students,” Sudhakar said.
As many as 8,48,203 students will appear in 2879 exam centres in the State.
He further directed the officials to provide transport facility to students where there are no vehicles available to reach the exam centres. The centres should be sanitized and should have a toilet facility. Students should wear masks and ensure social distancing is maintained.
Since students are reporting to the exam centres early this time – 7.30 am, officials must provide them with small biscuit packs, as they would be hungry. Each student must undergo thermal screening before entering the exam. If they are suffering from fever, arrangement must be done to allow them to write in a separate room.
If students in containment zones are not able to write exams, they will be given an opportunity to write in August and it would be considered as fresh exam, he said.
The minister was informed about the arrangements, preparations and other guidelines adopted by the education department for the smooth conduct of the exam.
In Bengaluru, there are as many as 458 containment zones. Officials must ensure utmost safety of students writing exam in these areas. If any student in these exam centers has any symptoms, the student should be taken to the Covid Care centre to write exam. Officials must be prepared with this.
Education Minister Suresh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Javed Akhtar and others took part in the video conferencing.
