State prepared to tackle locust menace: Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi

Mysuru: In the wake of worst locust attack in parts of West India, the state has braced up to tackle the menace, said Water Resources Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi.

He said that both Irrigation and Agriculture departments are jointly working to prevent menace and safeguard the crops.

He was speaking to mediapersons after visiting Suttur Mutt, here on Thursday.

On impending MLC elections, Minister Jarkiholi said that State leaders will abide by whatever the decision high command takes. “I’m not the right person to talk about it,” he stated.

MP Pratap Simha, who accompanied the minister, charged Congress leaders’ for criticizing the government’s decision to name flyover in Bengaluru after the Freedom fighter Veer Savarkar.

“Those who criticise must visit cellular jail in Andaman to realise Savarkar’s sacrifice for the country,” MP said.
