Kalaburagi: A private bus that was gutted in fire after an accident in the outskirts of Kamalapura town in the district on Friday early hours was carrying tourists from Hyderabad in Telangana.

About seven people are feared charred to death inside the bus, while 12 to 13 others have suffered injuries. The identities are yet to be ascertained.

It is said, a group of about 35 tourists from three families in Hyderabad had gone on Goa tour. About 20 seats had been booked in the name of one person. They were returning back to their native, when the accident occurred a few metres ahead of the highway that connects Telangana, at around 5.45 AM.

While the reckless driving is suspected to be the cause of accident as the vehicle rammed into a goods vehicle before falling off from a bridge, fire is suspected to have erupted after the diesel started leaking from the fuel tank.

Some of the survivors who had a miraculous escape without a scratch are learnt to have escaped after breaking the window glasses.

Heart rending moments were witnessed as the survivors watched their near and dear ones perish in the flames.

Fire and emergency services personnel who rushed to the spot soon after receiving the information, doused fire.
