Voice of over 40K songs S P Balasubrahmanyam dies at 74

Chennai: Renowned playback singer S P Balasubrahmanyam passed away here on Friday. He was 74.
Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted at MGM Hospital on August 5 had been cured of Covid-19 and had been tested negative later in the retest. However his condition deteriorated on Thursday and passed away after 52 days of his hospitalisation.
Balasubrahmanyam’s son S B Charan broke the news stating that “Appa passed away at 1.04 pm”.
While the mortal remains of SPB will be taken from the hospital to his Nungambakam residence, arrangements will be made to keep the remains at Satyam theatre premises to enable his fans and followers to pay their last respects.
He leaves behind his wife Savitri, daughter Pallavi and son Charan.
Balasubrahmanyam who was popular as SPB had sung over 40,000 songs in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi and several other languages.
