Wild elephant gives birth to twin calves at Bandipur

Chamarajanagar: In a rare incident a wild elephant has given birth to twin calves.
The tourists on safari at Bandipur National Park enjoyed the sight of two elephant calves with mother elephant.
With this Bandipur National tiger Reserve Forest has made history. Usually elephants give birth to one calf at a time, while here the birth of twin calves have cheered up Bandipur forest personnel and tourists alike.
Bandipur belongs to Nilgiri biosphere and Bandipur range of forest has a huge elephant population. According to the recent information by forest department, there are about 6,500 elephants in Bandipur.
