Mysuru: With the country still in the grip of pandemic, tourism is yet to return to its heydays. Hoping for good, World Tourism Day was celebrated at iconic Mysore Palace on Sunday.
Mysore Travel Association members welcomed tourists with flowers and sweets.
Mysore Travel Association members dressed in a traditional manner in silk dhoti, silk shirt and Mysore Peta welcomed tourists with a rose and sweets near Varaha Gate the main gate of the palace.
A procession was also carried out along with cabs and jeeps to mark the occassion. Association honorary President Jayakumar, B S Prashanth and all other members took part in the procession in an open jeep.
The theme for the year is- Rural Focus on Culture and Heritage. In this backdrop Association has also planned to take up a cleanliness drive at historical Badanavalu village in Nanjangud taluk, that is known for khadi industry.
